THE STRESS REDUCING BILL OF RIGHTS
What’s one of the most important ingredients for stress reduction? Feeling in control. What’s one of the most difficult things to hold onto when living, working and interacting with others? Feeling in control. That said, this vital sense of control—the stress busting belief that you’re in the driver’s seat of your life with both hands on the steering wheel instead of in the backseat on someone else’s trip—can be reclaimed by unrolling and reviewing our individual ‘Bill of Rights.’ Below is the Bill’s original draft, and like a nation’s constitution, it should stretch to fit the realities of your existence. Read it, amend it, post it and try to live by it.
We the people: employees, consumers, service providers, friends, and family are entitled to these human rights that enhance communication, build strong relationships, and help us to reach our goals. Know your human rights, and respect the rights of others.
You have the right to:
1. be respected. 2. set your own goals. 3. make mistakes. 4. have opinions, and to express them. 5. not express your opinions. 6. be taken seriously. 7. request information from the government, doctors, etc. 8. not want to do something. 9. expect quality for your money. 10. be believed.
