HOW DOES LES MANAGE STRESS?
Dear Les,
Assuming that you get stressed, how do you manage it?
Curious
Curious,
Your assumption is correct and I’d say that this week my stress management wish list includes these items, with #s 1, 2 and 5 present all the time:
- Sleep peacefully for 7 hours every night
- Exercise in some way almost everyday
- Spend some time outside during this first warm week in five months
- Ogle the blooming flowers and trees that are also stimulated by Spring
- Love a good cup of coffee in the morning
If the pursuit of some relaxation inspiration is behind your question, here’s hoping that this personal moment does the trick. If you’re looking to just do what the expert does, wait! It’s important to identify the stress prevention and reduction strategies best for you. Regular good nights of sleep, for instance, would benefit everyone, but if there were just one or two ways for all of us to lick unhealthy stress, I wouldn’t have much to do. Sleep, self-awareness, exercise, meditation, counseling, and so on, are often effective stress reducers, but the continuous ebb and flow of stressors combined with our unique personalities, likes, environments and schedules, call for each of us to regularly review our stress relief needs and options.
Now, go forth and ask others what they do to prevent and reduce stress. Their answers may surprise and motivate you to try and retry baths, bowling, voodoo or volunteering.
